The salinity data
Here you can access the salinity data from different marinas throughout the coast.
fair data principles
The FAIR data principles state that it should be possible to find research data, there should be information about how to gain access to them, they should be interoperable with other data, and possible to reuse. The principles are an important part of the work within open science, and describe some of the most central guidelines for good data management.
At SALLY, we are committed to uphold these principles and drive open science forward. As data is collected by dedicated citizen scientists, it is seamlessly uploaded to the website, establishing an accessible and collaborative platform. The salinity data is openly available, free for anyone, including researchers, who are interested in exploring its insights. Currently, there are no requirements for authentication or authorization, ensuring broad accessibility. Our goal is to create an efficient accurate data streaming platform that serves as a go-to resource for researchers looking for valuable data.
For the moment the uploaded data lacks some important metadata like timestamps, geolocation and marina identifiers but we are working hard to include this in the data of SALLY, to increase findability and reusability. Another aspect that is currently under development in our efforts towards data reuse and reproducibility is our commitment to providing comprehensive data descriptions that meet the highest standards. The attention to details will empower researchers to confidently utilize and replicate findings, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge. By filter functionalities such as specific areas along the coast, time periods and other relevant criteria, researchers and others can find the data they need. Further we want to make sure the data can smoothly work with different systems and disciplines. By aligning our practices with widely accepted standards, formats, and vocabularies, we want to integrate data smoothly and promote collaboration in research towards healthier oceans.
Join us on our journey towards open science and explore the vast potential of our well-described and accessible datasets.
